Your post contain several misunderstanding. This is an attempt to clarify our position: We are not disputing anybody's right to implement the algorithms we use in GNU MP. We are also not disputing anybody's right to implement the same user interface. What you did was copying code, sometimes with almost no edits, and sometimes with more edits, such as replacing variable names. Copyright law makes what you did illegal. We intend to defend the free nature of our implementation by using copyright law. Whatever your motives for improving GNU MP, you have to preserve the copyright notices on the code that had such notices when you started your work. You are then entitled to releasing your modifued version under the proper license. We are working on making a complete list of the parts you have copied. Thi= s list will be presented to a laywer, in preparation for legal enforcement of the copyright law. If SSH Communications Security Ltd. releases the modified versions of code from GMP under the LGPL, with the FSF copyright notices preserved, we will be satisfied and consider the matter closed.
