From: Neale Pickett <neale-news@lanl.gov> Subject: ANN: LDAP-based web phone book (pre-release) Date: 22 Sep 1998 11:29:37 -0600 This is the phone book you get at <URL:http://ldap.lanl.gov/>, which is just a nice interface to LDAP with a fixed base domain. It's like other LDAP->web programs available, except that it limits your search a little more. We've found that new users understand it a lot better than any other existing software. This is actually a complete web server which parses RFC-1959 requests sent over http. It also acts as a homepage redirector, and has limited support for serving files. It uses html.py (included) and caches frequently-used template pages in memory, so it is *FAST*! You will also need David Leonard's ldap module, obtainable from <URL:http://www.it.uq.edu.au/personal/leonard/dc-prj/ldapmodule/> No documentation yet outside the comments in the code, and there are certain LANL-isms you will want to remove, but I thought I should get it out there as a motiviation to myself to polish it up and make a real release. Undocumented software is better than no software at all, right?
