To: mozilla-general@mozilla.org From: spacecow@mis.net Subject: Palmzilla Date: Wed, 04 Nov 1998 17:13:35 GMT I've been groking the Microsonian WinCE architecture and the mozilla crossplatform stuff alternatively, and gotten a few things straight in my head. I think waiting for XPFE to mature a little more is the first order, but underground development seems to be a good way to go while waiting. NGLayout looks ready to support WinCE devices, and it looks like the only way PalmOS users will get included is if some of the Mac developers pick up on that. VC++ will do palm, so far as I can tell, with some stupid $200 addon. Fleshing out the capabilities, in my head, it looks like we need: -Calendar that can sync -Mail that can work -Simple web viewer -News that doesn't suck Wants are: simple interfaces, reductions, 2bit image conversions for all incomings better offline support (these things are always offline) less JS/DOM/acronym stuff (XML, etc) We could position it to kill all the outlook stuff and replace it with NS stuff. That's all I can think of for now... --endtransmission-- ~~KpS -----------== Posted via Deja News, The Discussion Network ==---------- http://www.dejanews.com/ Search, Read, Discuss, or Start Your Own
