Basically: you install our product on a couple servers on the same subnet; daemons run on both that monitor the health both at an OS and application level of one or more IP aliases; and in the event of hardware/OS/application failure, the IP alias is moved from primary to backup. Both machines can do other things as well and, in fact, each can back up the other. Our initial product only handles clusters of two servers; of course, you can have multiple pairs of machines in separate clusters. The initial product also doesn't handle replicating data; you have to do that yourself. We'd be very glad to have more beta testers in the Linux community. Please email mjc@rodagroup.com for more information if you're interested, or if you have any comments or questions.
