Monday, December 7, 1998 Press Contact: Sam Ockman - 415-885-4689 ockman@penguincomputing.com http://www.penguincomputing.com SAN FRANCISCO, CA--Penguin Computing is proud to announce its new associate program. In exchange for letting the world know that it's possible to buy high quality Linux Workstations and Servers, Penguin Computing will give a referral fee of 1% for each computer sold. This could range anywhere from $10 to $600 per computer. The idea for the associate program came from a staff meeting at Penguin. "We were brainstorming how we can more directly help the Open Source community that we owe so much to," said Sam Ockman, the founder of Penguin Computing. Although this referral program is open to everyone, Open Source community members are especially encouraged to join. This program will help fund Linux User's Groups, Linux websites, and lots of Open Source developers and advocates. Penguin Computing hopes that it may eventually allow some programmers to quit their day job and write Open Source software full time. To join the program all one needs to do is fill out the on-line form located at "http://www.penguincomputing.com/associate.html". After filling the form out you are given a URL that you can use to link from your website to Penguin Computing. Anyone who clicks on that URL and buys a Penguin System will generate the referral fee. ---- Penguin Computing was founded by Stanford Engineering Graduate Sam Ockman to provide reliable workstations and servers running Red Hat Linux. -- Sam Ockman | Penguin Computing - The Linux Company (415) 88-LINUX | Linux Workstations and Servers (888) 876-9585 | Work Linux? jobs@penguincomputing.com ockman@penguincomputing.com | http://www.penguincomputing.com
