Now, can this be done without burning a CD? I am guessing it might work if the distro is downloaded to a separate partition and this partition is mounted as /mnt, as if it were the CD. Anybody know what is "wget". -- Gregor J Jones mailto: gjones@bu.edu Boston MA ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Fri, 23 Apr 1999 13:32:35 GMT From: Trevor Dennis <tdennis@home.com> Newsgroups: alt.os.linux.caldera Subject: Re: Woudl someone please post the directory structure of their retail boxed COL 2.2 cd? I actually have downloaded and created my own CD. It works, but only if I created the boot floppies first. The dos install didn't seem to work. It complained about reading past the end of the ext2-fs device. As for the directory structure, I used an existing linux system and the wget program to grab everything under the 2.2 directory. I used ftp.tux.org/pub/distributions/... as the site. Caldera's site kept leaving out files for some reason or would go down in the middle of the download. After getting all the files, I moved the sources/SRPMS files out so they wouldn't be included in the CD. As for the boot image, I use my own dos boot image on the CD. I have various other things I include on the CD which I need dos to access. It also gives me a chance to make some system changes before the Linux install works. I usually use the loadlin method of getting Linux running for the install (although it didn't work for me). Trevor Dennis tjdennis@hotmail.com
