Phoenix is the first Linux firewall to be certified by the International Computer Security Association (ICSA). The level of session support in the fully-featured firewall allows it to secure desktops, home networks, or low traffic servers. The software will be available beginning December 13 and will be downloadable from a variety of sites, including Progressive's home page (www.progressive-systems.com). In addition, Progressive Systems is giving away unlimited session copies of the software to Linux user groups. User groups may obtain copies of the software by contacting Progressive’s sales staff. The Open Source community has seen tremendous innovation and success over the last few years, with the number of commercial implementations of Linux growing exponentially. Lacking, however, are commercial applications based on the platform. Announced and shipped in the fall of 1998, the Phoenix Adaptive Firewall is the first Linux firewall on the market. In October, Phoenix was the first Linux firewall to pass the rigorous ICSA certification process. With this giveaway, Progressive hopes to help the Open Source community grow the availability of Linux-based commercial products. If you would like more information on Progressive or the giveaway, please send me an email or give me a call at the number listed below. I look forward to hearing from you.
