Date: Wed, 26 Jan 2000 21:35:46 -0800 From: David Schleef <ds@stm.lbl.gov> To: comedi@stm.lbl.gov Subject: [rtl] [announce] comedi-0.7.36, comedilib-0.7.8 Comedi is a package of drivers for data acquisition boards, both for Linux and Linux with real-time patches. Information can be found at http://stm.lbl.gov/comedi, and Comedi can be downloaded at ftp://stm.lbl.gov/pub/comedi. Yesterday and today, I've been under the power of a big hack attack, as is evidenced by the new versions of both comedi and comedilib. comedi-0.7.36: I changed a *lot* of things. Really, a lot. Most of the changes had to do with modularizing everything and making it fit into the kernel source tree. There are only about two or three bug fixes, including fixing a memory leak and probing for NI PCI-DIO-96 boards. One of the cool new features is that now each driver is compiled as a separate module, which is the "correct" way to do things. This is the first step to getting rid of comedi_config, unless you have multiple cards that use the same driver. The changes that I made in this release have possibly broken some of the drivers. More than typically, I would like everyone who uses Comedi to download this new version, read the INSTALL file, compile it, but don't run 'make install'. Insmod the modules from the source tree, and do some tests. If you run into problems, send a message to the list. If _you_ don't test the drivers, there's a good chance that they'll remain broken until you decide to upgrade. comedilib-0.7.8: Someone noticed that the outp demo didn't work, so I fixed it. That, and a few other changes deserved a new release. dave... --- [rtl] --- To unsubscribe: echo "unsubscribe rtl" | mail majordomo@rtlinux.cs.nmt.edu OR echo "unsubscribe rtl <Your_email>" | mail majordomo@rtlinux.cs.nmt.edu ---- For more information on Real-Time Linux see: http://www.rtlinux.org/~rtlinux/
