easyLinux.com announces on this first day of the Dragon Year that it
will release the Chinese version of easyLinux on May 1, 2000 in
Beijing. It will be called Dragon Linux. The alpha pre-release will be
shown at the Singapore Linux Conference (http://slc.com.sg ) in March,
and the beta version is planned to be shown at the Spring Comdex in
Chicago in April. StarOffice (tm) (by SUN Microsystems) is included. A
dedicated Chinese language website will provide online support for
Dragon Linux.

The Chinese implementation of easyLinux was done in close collaboration
with RON's Datacom Ltd, a company which provides technical services for
Open Source software in China. Started in 1995, it is the first company
in China offering services for Linux; more information is available at
http://www.rons.net.cn.

easyLinux is the first Linux distribution conceived for the desktop. It
features the quickest installation "at the speed of your mouse" (tm) -
with 9 mouse clicks. easyLinux has pioneered graphical user interfaces
for many OpenSource programs and users who already know Windows will
quickly feel at home with it. easyLinux is X-Windows based and tightly
integrates KDE. The Dragon Linux edition implements Chinese characters
based on the Unicode standard.

Dragon Linux uses the latest version of the Linux kernel and provides
rich development environments for C/C++, Java, Perl and other scripting
tools. Included are Apache web server and popular browsers, email
clients and servers, and other Internet servers in a box. It also
provides the easy to use system and network administration tools under
GUI. Dragon Linux is based on easyLinux 2000 which is very advanced and
works with all graphics adapters on the market.

Easy Information Technology started development of easyLinux in 1997 in
Germany. Today it has offices in Germany, USA and Singapore.
