Subject: Tritonus 0.3.0 (developer release) out
Hi,
to prepare for Tritonus 0.4.x, there is now Tritonus 0.3.0, which is
considered a version for developers (see below for details on the
version numbering policy).
FEATURES ALREADY AVAILABLE:
- PCM2PCM converter
- GSM 06.10 codec
- ALSA support (playback and recording, multiple soundcards)
- Sun-compatible service provider mechanism
- runnable with jdk1.3 (audio part)
- writing of MIDI files
- runnable on Linux PowerPC
- MidiShare support (tested on Windows; should run on Linux, too)
- Software synthesizer support (Linux only)
FEATURES PLANNED FOR 0.4.x:
- mp3 encoder
- sampling rate converter
- runnable with jdk1.3 (MIDI part)
You can download it from:
http://tritonus.sourceforge.net/download.html
If you work with this release, it is recommended that you subscribe to
the tritonus-devel mailing list to take part in discussions on the
development of Tritonus. At least, you should subscribe to
tritonus-announce to get informed about updates.
About the version numbering policy
The version numbering of Tritonus now follows the pattern you are
famuliar with from the Linux kernel: Odd minor numers (0.3.x, 0.5.x) are
unstable development releases. Even minor numbers (0.2.0, 0.4.x) are
considered stable and for non-hacker use.
About the announcement policy
Versions with new major or minor number (0.3.x -> 0.4.0) will be
announced at javasound-interest, java-linux and tritonus-announce.
Versions with new release number (0.3.281 -> 0.3.282) will only be
announced on tritonus-announce.
Many thanks to Florian Bomers and Stephane Letz for their development
work.
Have fun!
Matthias
