The event sponsored by Covalent Technologies, IBM, Sun Microsystems and Oracle is being held at the Olympia conference centre, London between 23-25 October, 2000. ApacheCon Europe 2000 will provide a European focus for the Apache developer community, enabling open-source followers to participate with key technology vendors and open-source figures from Europe and the rest of the world, at Europe's first dedicated open-source and Apache-related event. Registration allows conference attendees to hear keynotes from a variety of presenters including Douglas Adams, International Bestelling Author of The Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy and founding Director of h2g2 Ltd, the award-winning digital media and Internet company. 'Living in a Virtual World' is sponsored by Covalent Technologies and will be presented by Douglas Adams to the ApacheCon Europe 2000 audience as a personal view of the enormous promise, achievements and absurdities of information and digital technology. Adams will examine how the Internet and other breakthroughs are transforming the ways people work, live, think and order pizza and will speculate what it may all actually mean. Other ApacheCon Europe keynote addresses include presentations from Dr. Kristof Kloeckner, Vice President Business Integration Development and Director, IBM's UK Hursley Park laboratory; Sun Microsytems' Vice President of Technologies Advocacy and Community Development, George Paolini plus Sun's Senior Staff Engineer James Duncan Davidson who serves as primary liaison between the ASF and Sun, who will be presenting his perspectives on the ASF's Jakarta Project. The LongevIT Spa takes place at The Rock, Hungerford House, Victoria Embankment, London on Monday 23rd October, the opening night of ApacheCon Europe 2000.
