The most important bug fixed is in the 2.2 kernel patch: ACL support for UNIX domain sockets on ext2 has been forgotten. This is now fixed; the 2.4 patch didn't have that problem. As long as you don't need this rather obscure feature, there is no immediate need to upgrade. I assume it's pretty save to enable the extended attribute block sharing kernel option (CONFIG_EXT2_FS_EXT_ATTR_SHARING) even on production systems as I haven't experienced, or heard of, any troubles with it. These are the changes: 2.2.17 kernel: * ACLs for UNIX domain sockets have been forgotten. Added. 2.4.0test11 kernel: * The patch has been updated to support the latest official kernel version. Both kernel patches: * The ACL functions have been moved from the VFS to Ext2. This is to make the patch interfere less with the VFS. ACL utilities: * The functionality of the showacl script has been integrated into getfacl. See the `--tabular' command line option. * Long command line options have been added. Some non-standard command line options are now only available as long options. Fileutils patch: * The fileutils patch has been updated to version 4.0.32 (which is available at <ftp://alpha.gnu.org/gnu/fetish/>).
