Redundancy and Raw-Processing Power in Rave Systems Rackmount AXmp
Rave Computer Now Offers Complete Solution in the AXmp family line

(Sterling Heights, Michigan – December 13, 2000) Rave Computer
Association, Inc., a leading North American system integrator has added
a redundant 4UAXmp rackmount to its family line of Rave AXmp Systems.

Rave Systems RackMount –4UAXmp (RMR-4UAXmp) has been added to the AXmp
product line-offering customers a complete solution in three rackmount
chassis options featuring the Sun UltraSPARC engine AXmp motherboard.
The RMR-4UAXmp is part of the powerful multi-processing server family
designed for the highly compute –intensive applications. Rave Computer
Association, Inc., an authorized Sun “Master value-added integrator”
integrates Sun’s UltraAXmp into a sturdy 4U 19 inch rackmount chassis.
The SPARCengine UltraAXmp is a scalable 64-bit multi-processing
motherboard with a unique UPA (ultra-port architecture) that enables the
aggregate CPU bus bandwidth to be increased to 3.2 gigabytes per second
via a custom cross bar switch. This larger processor bandwidth allows
scaling of up to four UltraSPARC-II microprocessors modules (currently
shipping at 480MHz with 8MB cache). The system also supports up to 4GB
of memory and has integrated dual-channel Ultra-wide SCSI, and six PCI
slots, four at 33MHz and two at 66MHz. The Rave Systems
RackMount-4UAXmp redundant chassis configurations feature 3N+1
hot-swappable power supplies (620 Watt total), dual power inlets, and
four 5.25 inch shock-mounted drive bays, with one additional 3.5 inch
drive bay for removable media.

The Redundant RackMount 4UAXmp is a complementary addition to the 5U and
6U rackmount offerings available in the Rave Systems AXmp family line.
This past August, Rave Computer introduced the Redundant
RackMount-5UAXmp at the Internet TeleExpo, Jacob Javits Convention
Center in New York, and at the Fall ISPCON, San Jose McEnery Convention
Center, California. The 5UAXmp system offers an additional 3.5-inch
drive bay than the 4UAXmp. The ruggedized redundant 6UAXmp rackmount
was introduced this past June. The 6U rackmount chassis includes three
current-sharing hot-swap 400-Watt (2N+1) power supplies, two 3.5 inch
upper drive bays, two 5.25 inch upper drive bays and nine 5.25 inch
lower drive bays.

All of the Rave Systems are manufactured at Rave Computer’s Sterling
Heights headquarters and come with a two-year warranty. The Rave AXmp
systems are pre-installed with Solaris 2.6 or later. Linux 6.1 is
offered as an optional operating system for the UltraAXmp.

The raw multi-processing capability in the AXmp combined with redundant
power supplies provides a wide range of powerful server solutions. The
Rave AXmp systems can be used for data warehousing applications, or
specialized industrial and medical applications, or for E-commerce
transactional applications.
