We are pleased to announce the 8th Annual Tcl/Tk conference, to be held
in association with the O'Reilly Open Source Conference. The conference
is a forum to:

bring together members of the Tcl/Tk community

    present current work involving Tcl/Tk

learn about the latest developments in Tcl/Tk

plan for future Tcl/Tk related developments

The conference program will include formal paper and panel presentations,
poster and demonstration sessions, works in progress (WIP) sessions,
Birds of a Feather (BOF) sessions, and tutorials.

The conference will be held at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina,
San Diego, California, July 23-27, 2001. Registration will open in
Spring 2001. A further announcement regarding registration
will be made at that time.

Two days of the conference are devoted to in-depth tutorials presented
by expert Tcl/Tk programmers. Three days of conference sessions focus
on cutting edge Tcl/Tk technology and feature talks, demonstrations, and
panel debates on a wide range of topic interesting to Tcl/Tk programmers.

Opportunities for Participation

Individuals and companies interested in making technical presentations
at the Conference are invited to submit proposals to the conference
organizers following the guidelines which will be presented in an
announcement to follow. Proposals will be considered for three kinds of
presentations: tutorials, conference presentations, and refereed papers.
Submission details will be announced shortly.

Topics

presentations, or refereed papers on topics of interest to Tcl/Tk
programmers. If you're doing something interesting, we want to
hear about it! Example topics:

    Tcl/Tk extensions

    Novel Tcl/Tk-based applications

Experience reports: designing, building, and supporting
    Tcl/Tk applications

Comparative evaluations: Tcl/Tk vs other languages or
    toolkits for building applications

Programming paradigms: those you've used with Tcl/Tk,
    and proposals for new directions

    Mission-critical applications: deployment and management
    of large/critical Tcl/Tk applications

Anything else which may be of interest to the Tcl/Tk
    community.

or near released Tcl/Tk packages or applications

Panel participation--speakers to participate in one of the various
