The 8th Annual Tcl/Tk Conference
July 23-27, 2001 -- San Diego, California
We are pleased to announce the 8th Annual Tcl/Tk conference, to be held
in association with the O'Reilly Open Source Conference. The conference
is a forum to:
bring together members of the Tcl/Tk community
present current work involving Tcl/Tk
learn about the latest developments in Tcl/Tk
plan for future Tcl/Tk related developments
The conference program will include formal paper and panel presentations,
poster and demonstration sessions, works in progress (WIP) sessions,
Birds of a Feather (BOF) sessions, and tutorials.
The conference will be held at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina,
San Diego, California, July 23-27, 2001. Registration will open in
Spring 2001. A further announcement regarding registration
will be made at that time.
Two days of the conference are devoted to in-depth tutorials presented
by expert Tcl/Tk programmers. Three days of conference sessions focus
on cutting edge Tcl/Tk technology and feature talks, demonstrations, and
panel debates on a wide range of topic interesting to Tcl/Tk programmers.
Opportunities for Participation
Individuals and companies interested in making technical presentations
at the Conference are invited to submit proposals to the conference
organizers following the guidelines which will be presented in an
announcement to follow. Proposals will be considered for three kinds of
presentations: tutorials, conference presentations, and refereed papers.
Submission details will be announced shortly.
Topics
The program committee invites submissions of tutorials, conference
presentations, or refereed papers on topics of interest to Tcl/Tk
programmers. If you're doing something interesting, we want to
hear about it! Example topics:
Tcl/Tk extensions
Novel Tcl/Tk-based applications
Experience reports: designing, building, and supporting
Tcl/Tk applications
Comparative evaluations: Tcl/Tk vs other languages or
toolkits for building applications
Programming paradigms: those you've used with Tcl/Tk,
and proposals for new directions
Mission-critical applications: deployment and management
of large/critical Tcl/Tk applications
Anything else which may be of interest to the Tcl/Tk
community.
Conference Presentations
Conference presentations and participation will be considered
for these types of talks:
Case studies showing an application of Tcl/Tk, the problems that
were solved and the lessons learned
Focused technology discussions covering a specific Tcl/Tk technology
New product/technology demonstrations -- demonstrations of released
or near released Tcl/Tk packages or applications
Panel participation--speakers to participate in one of the various
panel discussions that are part of the conference Conference proposals
must include:
Refereed Papers
Individuals or teams interested in submitting technical papers on Tcl/Tk
programming are invited to submit extended abstracts of their work for
consideration by the committee. All accepted papers will be published in
the proceedings of the Conference. The committee will consider only new
work that has not been presented or submitted for consideration at other
conferences. Accepted papers authors will receive complete instructions
for preparing their material from the committee.
Important Dates
Abstracts and proposals due: February 1, 2001
Notification to proposals: March 1, 2001
Accepted materials due: May 1, 2001
Conference starts: July 23, 2001
