From: marketing@trustix.com To: presslist@trustix.com Subject: Press release: IBM and Trustix launching GoldBox Date: Wed, 20 Jun 2001 10:39:21 +0200 (CEST) IBM and Trustix launching GoldBox - a complete, cost effective and secure Linux IT infrastructure Oslo, 15 June, 2001 - IBM, the leading global IT solutions provider, and Trustix AS, the leading provider of solutions for Linux systems administration, today launched their first joint product, GoldBox. GoldBox is a turn-key IT infrastructure based on Linux, the fastest growing operating systems for servers. The launch in Oslo was a part of an international drive from IBM and Trustix. GoldBox is already launched in Denmark, and UK and the US will follow in the near future. * GoldBox is a mainstream Linux IT infrastructure solution for companies wishing to capitalize on the Linux value proposition, high reliability and low cost, as effortlessly as possible. Equally suited for the new venture with little or no existing infrastructure as for the established company with an existing infrastructure running on a traditional platform. * The easy-to-use graphical user interface of GoldBox that reduces complexity and cost of managing Linux systems, is perfect for companies with only limited or no in-house Linux expertise. * GoldBox is completely scalable and will cater for the companies' different needs for Internet and LAN services. The Business Partner agreement between IBM and Trustix that lead to this first implementation was signed in April. The agreement includes a co- operation on both the product/technology and the marketing side. A pronounced focus for the joint activities is complete solutions for Internet and e-Business systems for Linux. "The fact that Trustix is operating not only on a national scale, but also internationally, is very important for us", said Bjorn Roksvold, Sales Director at IBM Norway. "We trust the launch of GoldBox will be an important contribution towards making Linux even more attractive for the market, including the traditional organisations. Havard Wollan, CEO of Trustix remarked: "An important element in our business idea is to make Linux solutions accessible for all kinds of companies, including companies without in-house Linux expertise". Wollan continues: "I am proud to work together with IBM offering a powerful and cost-efficient solution for all companies wishing to take advantage of the new generation Linux infrastructure solutions". The partnership between IBM and Trustix is expected to evolve in the near future with new bundled and integrated solutions based on software from Trustix and software and hardware from IBM. An existing GoldBox installation SIVA is a public enterprise, established with the purpose of furthering the creation of business opportunities and generation of employment. Its goal is to develop strong local environments by providing investment capital, competence and networks for small and medium size companies. SIVA was the first enterprise to install the GoldBox infrastructure solution. SIVA has also adopted the GoldBox as part of the offering to their customer base. "Many of our customers have a strategy outsourcing their IT infrastructure management, leaving only desktop management in-house. We wanted to be able to offer a complete IT infrastructure with the characteristics of a Linux Platform, and found no better solution than the one developed by Trustix. The key-points for us were the low-cost and turn-key characteristics of this solution, the unique and easy-to-manage graphical user interface presented by XPloy and XSentry, as well as the high-level security inherently in the Trustix technology", said Dag Bjornes, Information Systems Manager at SIVA About Trustix Trustix is a leading provider of Internet infrastructure software and services, providing next generation Linux solutions for managed infrastructure operating and application environments.
