From: Bill Krauss <bkrauss@mediaone.net> To: Recipient List Suppressed:; Subject: FSMLabs Announces RTLinux for Motorola PPC860 Date: Tue, 19 Jun 2001 17:28:55 -0700 FOR IMMDEDIATE RELEASE FSMLabs announces RTLinux Support for Motorola PowerPC 860 Processors (June 20, 2001; Socorro, NM) Finite State Machine Labs: the RTLinux[tm] Company has announced that RTLinux and the RTLinux Development Kit are now available for several PowerPC 860 evaluation boards. Stress tests of the boards show worst case measured periodic jitter times of less than 14 microseconds. Context switch times have been measured at four microseconds worst case. FSMLabs now offers RTLinux support for a wide range of PowerPC chips -- from SMP G4s to embedded chips such as the 860 and the IBM PPC405GP. FSMLabs Director of Engineering Cort Dougan said, "There has been strong customer demand for RTLinux support on the MPC860 family. Combined with the RTLinux Development Kit, designers can build real-time systems quickly and easily, and application programmers concentrate on their applications." About RTLinux RTLinux is a POSIX 1003.13/PS51 compatible realtime kernel that runs either Linux or NetBSD Unix during non-realtime operation. RTLinux/PPC on the MPC860 is the latest of FSMLabs' Spring 2001 series of releases, which include the recent announcement of RTLinux for NetBSD UNIX, and for PowerPC symmetric multi-processors and the IBM 405 processor.
