Open Source Development Lab Announces 2001 Enterprise Achievement Award
Contest

$25,000 Cash Award for Most Significant Contribution to Linux for the
Enterprise

Portland, Ore.—June 27, 2001—The Open Source Development Lab (OSDL), an
independent, vendor-neutral, non-profit organization dedicated to enabling
Linux for enterprise and carrier-class functionality, today announced a call
for entries for their 2001 OSDL Enterprise Achievement Award. A cash prize
of $25,000 will be granted to a developer or group that has made a
significant contribution to Linux for the enterprise.

Nominations are open to an individual or group that has made a noteworthy
accomplishment in the last two years that relates to enterprise type work.
The award will be presented at LinuxWorld Expo in San Francisco, August
27-30, 2001.

“In creating the award we wanted to not only recognize the technological
milestones being reached in the advancement of Linux, but also encourage the
open source community to continue existing efforts toward scaling Linux to
the enterprise,” said Tim Witham, OSDL lab director.

Entries will be accepted via the OSDL web site (www.osdlab.org) from now
through August 10, 2001. The award is based on a group or individual’s
vision, creativity and the importance of their achievement and contribution
to the acceptance of Linux in the enterprise.

Submissions will be judged by a panel of OSDL Board members and open source
community leaders. Entries must include specific information about the
contribution, justification, references and a commitment to provide
additional information and materials upon request to facilitate judging.
Detailed information on the award and the submission process is available on
the OSDL web site.
