RidgeRun™ Appoints Cisco Executive, Peter Alexander, to Board of Directors

Boise, ID - July 9, 2001 - RidgeRun, Inc., a leading developer of embedded
Linux® software and tools for appliances using digital signal processing
(DSP) components, announced today that Peter Alexander, an executive at
Cisco Systems, Inc., has joined the company’s Board of Directors. Mr.
Alexander is currently Vice President, Marketing and Operations of Internet
Systems Business Unit, which includes the company’s Catalyst® 6000 Family of
switches and Cisco 7000 series routers.

“We are extremely pleased to have Peter join the RidgeRun board at this
exciting time for our business,” said Rudy Prince, RidgeRun Chairman and
Chief Executive Officer. “At Cisco, Peter is well recognized for his
strategic vision and has built a reputation as one of the leading industry
spokespersons on the future of the Internet and convergence. We believe his
insights will greatly contribute to our DSPLinux™ software developments for
empowering the next generation of Internet appliances.”

Mr. Alexander added, “I view this as a great opportunity to work with a
growing young company focused on advanced wireless, multimedia and
networking appliances. By merging the strengths of Linux Open Source
software with the computational power and efficiency of DSP components,
RidgeRun is well positioned to deliver a leading software platform that
brings advanced products to market faster, often with reduced development
and component costs.”

For the past five years, Mr. Alexander has helped to drive Cisco's data,
voice, and video integration strategy and in September of 2000 was named one
of the industry's "Top 50 Smartest People" by Sm@rt Partner. Mr. Alexander
joined Cisco in 1996 when it acquired StrataCom, Inc., where he was
Executive Director of Enterprise Marketing. Prior to StrataCom, Mr.
Alexander held positions as Director of Sales and Operations in the
Asia/Pacific region for Republic Telecom Systems as well as a variety of
engineering and management positions at Entropic Speech, Inc. and ROLM
Corporation. Mr. Alexander is an associate member of the British Institute
of Electrical Engineers, and holds an M.B.A. degree from the University of
California – Berkeley and a B.Eng. (Honors) in Electrical and Electronic
Engineering from the University of Bradford in England.
