From: Jan Stifter <j.stifter@medres.ch> To: discuss@linmodems.org Subject: PCTEL: new driver available Date: Wed, 05 Sep 2001 14:14:06 +0200 Dear people, A new driver is available: pctel-0.8.5 ! Thanks to Daniel Caujolle-Bert, we have now a driver that should work with most modems on most 2.4.x kernels. The driver should support pct789, cm8738, i810intel, i810sis and via686a. I recommend _all_ users to try this driver. You can find the driver at http://www.medres.ch/~jstifter/linux/pctel.html in the development version. As usual, it comes untested, and might crash your machine (it really crashed mine)! Be careful, it is a development version. Do not mix this driver with old ones (remove the old, insert the new), since the old drivers have a bug. Instead, reboot your machine, and then insert the new driver, test it, and if it work, trash the old one! Hopefully, the CM8x people will have a working driver with this one. Jan
