Conduant Expands StreamStor Solutions to Support 2.5” IDE Drives

Longmont, Colorado — (September 21, 2001) — Conduant Corporation
(www.conduant.com) announced today it has expanded its StreamStor solution
offerings with support for the compact and highly portable 2.5” IDE disk
drives. Several new StreamStor models support data streaming using IBM’s
Travelstar family of disk drives. The 2.5” drives, the same drives found in
many laptop computers, are ideal for low power, mobile, high vibration or
harsh environment applications. StreamStor disk controllers provide digital
streaming (recording and playback) of very high, sustained data rates for
long durations to an array of 3.5”, and now 2.5”, IDE drives. Models are
available in configurations from 20 Mbytes/sec up to 200 Mbytes/sec.

“Many of our military and commercial customers require the reliability and
performance offered by disk drives but were looking to push the envelope
with low power, mobility or high vibration requirements. Airborne and
mobile terrestrial recording stations are just a few examples of
environments where the 2.5” drives offer a compelling solution,” said Tom
Skrobacz, VP of Business Development. “With a simple adapter we are now
able to connect 2.5” drives to StreamStor and offer these drives as an
alternative to the standard 3.5” drives. Potential applications include
surveillance, high-resolution imaging, and digital TV. ”

The StreamStor 2.5” solutions enable recording and playback with capacities
from 40GB to 768GB on a single array. Streaming time will exceed 10 hours
at the lower speeds and over two hours at the highest speed. This is a
significant improvement over the costly RAM based solutions that are
typically limited to 4GB or less due to PC architecture constraints.
StreamStor offers PCI, cPCI/PXI and Front Panel Data Port (FPDP)
connectivity for maximum flexibility in system architecture. Multiple
StreamStor controllers can be “chained” together for extremely long duration
applications.

StreamStor offers the only direct to storage digital PCI and CPCI recording
and playback solutions available for the Windows and Linux operating
systems. Conduant produces intelligent disk subsystems for real-time
streaming applications. Its current products can record and playback
hours of digital data with industry leading sustained performance on IDE
drives. It is a privately held company located near Boulder, Colo. For more
