**SuSE Linux Presents New eMail Server III at IT Expo SYSTEMS** Calendar functionalities for group appointment planning included Nuremberg, Germany - 10-15-2001 - Today, SuSE Linux, the international technology leader and provider of Open Source solutions, presented the third generation of its e-mail solution at the IT expo SYSTEMS, held from October 15 to 19 in Munich, Germany. SuSE Linux eMail Server III is an easy-to-install, complete solution for small and medium-size enterprises as well as dedicated workgroups and government administrations. SuSE Linux eMail Server III reliably handles the reception, distribution, and transmission of electronic mail. In compliance with the IMAP standard (IMAP = Internet Message Access Protocol), SuSE Linux eMail Server III administers and stores all e-mail on a central server, thus providing users with optimum Internet or intranet access to their electronic mail, no matter where they may be or which device or e-mail client they use. SuSE Linux eMail Server III supports all common e-mail clients, including Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express, Netscape Messenger and Eudora. Alternatively, users may access their e-mail folders simply with a web browser. System administrators will also benefit from the enhanced performance of the SuSE Linux eMail Server. The central data storage enables uncomplicated and comprehensive data backups. Proven graphical user interfaces facilitate the configuration and ongoing maintenance of the e-mail service. Web-based user interfaces of the e-mail server save system administrators time for implementing user-specific adaptations. With SuSE Linux eMail Server III, even inexperienced users are able to adjust individual settings, such as setting up folders, subscribing to mailing lists, or changing the password. Updates and Improvements Compared to its predecessor, version III boasts a number of advantages. Both internal and external mailing lists can now be set up and administered with SuSE Linux eMail Server III. Also new: the Skyrix (http://www.skyrix.com) calendar and scheduling functionalities for booking appointments, rooms, or other resources. Groups or individuals can be automatically notified by e-mail about upcoming appointments. The new e-mail server also supports the administration of virtual domains. With a web-based user interface, the establishment of new domains is a matter of seconds. Companies with low e-mail traffic often use the inexpensive collection method in multidrop mailboxes with their ISPs. With SuSE Linux eMail Server III, e-mail from multidrop mailboxes can now be distributed to the various recipients. Virtually Unlimited Scalability SuSE Linux eMail Server III supports all relevant Internet standards, including IMAP, LDAP, SMTP, POP3, TLS, and SASL. A special characteristic of this Open Source solution: with an unlimited number of possible users per e-mail server, the increase of users does not cause additional costs or administration workload. The SuSE Linux eMail Server III is based on SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 7. The purchase price includes an active maintenance, ensuring that SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 7 is always up-to-date, secure, and stable. SuSE regularly notifies its customers regarding improvements and makes the respective updates, fixes, and patches available for download on the day of their release. YaST2 (Yet another Setup tool), SuSE's graphical installation tool, guides even Linux beginners safely through the entire installation procedure. SuSE Linux eMail Server III will be available at the end of October from qualified software retailers. The recommended retail price for one server is EUR 990,- + VAT, including three manuals, 30 days of support, one year of maintenance, and the server backup solution Arkeia from Knox Software.
