19 November 2001 Blender Publisher completes 3D picture on all O/Ss Not a Number (NaN), creator of Blender 3D content creation software, has today announced the release of Blender Publisher. Responding fast to the needs of its global, cross-platform user base – now standing at over 250,000 - this addition to the Blender suite allows professional users to distribute and market stand-alone, multi-platform 3D content to the web, CD-ROM and other media. This release coincides with the launch of the company’s new website, www.blender3d.com, where designers can view and download Blender software, quickly learn how to create and publish 3D content, share their designs with others and join the expanding Blender community. Blender Publisher offers a versatile approach to real-time and interactive 3D publishing. In line with NaN ’s continual support of Open GL, Publisher offers flexible licensing to encourage the publication of cross platform 3D content. This means that individuals or companies of any size can reap the benefits of Blender Publisher whether they are Windows, Linux, Irix, Sun Solaris or FreeBSD users, with a Mac version available in December. The package can be used to produce stand-alone 3D presentations, as well as locked, optimised and compressed 3D material for internet playback. To see it in action, visit www.blender3d.com/3DInAction/gallery_plugin.php Ton Roosendaal, Creative and Technical Director of NaN, is enthusiastic about the release of Publisher. "Up until now, Blender has been freely available for anyone to have a go at creating their own 3D designs, and we are adamant that this will continue. But with the addition of Publisher, our professional users will now be able to transform their designs into marketable products with real business benefits and outstanding creativity." Blender Publisher is a fully integrated creation suite for linear and interactive modelling and animation, which can also import files from other 3D applications and publish them on the web. Interactive integration is also possible with presentation packages such as PowerPoint, Director and Microsoft Word. Available from as little as $295 and simple to use, Blender Publisher completes the 3D picture for those users that want a new level of design at their fingertips – at a fraction of the cost. Ends. Blender was originally devised as an in-house development tool, allowing for the creation of graphics as well as commercial quality 3D animations. As a functional and professional design suite, Blender offers the same highend tools as other existing programs, at a fraction of the cost, compared to the thousands of pounds that traditionally need to be invested to use these programs.
