Appeal Virtual Machines AB: JRockit 3.0 JVM Available for Free Trial
Download, Featuring Innovative Management Console and Record
Scalability

Appeal Virtual Machines offers free trial license for its JRockit 3.0
server side JavaTM Virtual Machine featuring Management Console for
Java Performance Enhancement and Java Systems Optimization. Real life
benchmark confirms industry-leading scalability

San Mateo, CA, November 21, 2001. Appeal Virtual Machines, a
technology leader in producing manageable, high performance Virtual
Machines for the Java platform, announced that the latest versions of
the company's JRockit product line are available today for download
from the company's web site at www.jrockit.com. The products are
delivered under the terms of a free trial license which allows for up
to 30 days of testing, benchmarking and production evaluation.

Appeal Virtual Machines' JRockit 3.0 has been certified as fully
compatible with the Java2 Platform, Standard Edition (J2SE) on the
Windows2000/NT operating systems. This gives companies the option of
a manageable and highly scalable JVM without compromising Java
compatibility.

"We offer this download service to prospective clients since we are
confident that they will want to purchase the product once they have
had the opportunity to try JRockit in their own environments. We are
particularly proud of our industry leading scalability and the
groundbreaking Management Console incorporated in JRockit 3.0," said
David Parker, CEO, Appeal Virtual Machines.

"We sell our Funonym community software to service providers, and
scalability is a competitive advantage both for us and for our
customers. JRockit is the scalability leader of all Virtual Machines
for Java according to our tests. JRockit JVM gives us the ability to
run 12 000 concurrent users on a specific server, while no other JVM
exceeded 1 200 users. This translates to better service and response
time for end users, and less hardware required for our customers,"
said Andreas Kura, Geschäftsführer of smartup solutions GmbH.

"JRockit has a balanced architecture with across-the-board
scalability and performance for server-side Java, but actual
performance depends on the application. Software architected in the
spirit of the Java framework, like the Funonym community application
from smartup, suits JRockit extremely well with a scalability gain in
this case of one order of magnitude," said Joakim Dahlstedt, CTO,
Appeal Virtual Machines.

Appeal Virtual Machines' JRockit products are designed and optimized
for the demands of server side execution of Java technology,
including multi-user scalability, selectable non-disruptive garbage
collectors, support for multiprocessors, and the ability to monitor
and manage the execution of Java technology based applications.

In the 3.0 version of JRockit, Appeal Virtual Machines has taken
multiprocessor scalability one level further by redesigning thread
synchronization and by improving concurrent garbage collection.
JRockit 3.0 with a concurrent collector has no conceivable pauses
related to garbage collection of gigabyte-size heaps. JRockit 3.0
also introduces the JRockit Management Console, enhancing the ability
to manage and monitor the Java Virtual Machine.
