Announcing the latest stable release of Anjuta, 0.1.8. This
release is the first of
the 0.1.x series since the announcement of the merger of the
Anjuta and gIDE
projects, and demonstrates that whilst the next-generation tools
(Anjuta DevStudio) are being developed, the existing IDE is
still being
maintained and enhanced.

The Anjuta website can be found at: http://anjuta.sourceforge.net

What is Anjuta?

Anjuta is a versatile Integrated Development Environment (IDE),
primarily
intended for C/C++. It has been written for GTK+/GNOME, and
features a number
of advanced programming facilities, such as project management,
application
wizards, an interactive debugger and a powerful source code
editor, with
source browsing and syntax highlighting.

What is new / changed in this release?

     * integration of new TagManager library - improved
autocompletion and
       calltips functionality,
     * multiple file drag-and-drop,
     * ability to save build message output,
     * DOS file (CR/LF) handling,
     * many new translations - 17 languages now fully or
partially supported,
     * notebook tabs notify when file has been changed and can
be scrolled for
       browsing,
     * improvements to interactive debugger and communication
with gdb,
     * improved find functionality,
     * ... plus the usual bug fixes and minor feature additions.

Requirements

     * standard GNU development tools,
     * autoconf/automake.
     * libxml,
     * scrollkeeper,

Optional tools

     * gnome-help-browser (or Nautilus), to display the included
documentation,
     * gdb, for debugging sessions,
     * grep, for research in files,
     * ctags, in order to have class browsing,
     * indent, for automatic source code indenting,
     * DevHelp, used for context sensitive API browser support

Feedback

Although most of the development effort is going into the new
version of Anjuta,
we'd really like to continue to hear your comments on the 0.1.x
series - remember
that forums, mailing lists, bug reporting and feature request
facilities may be found
at the Anjuta project page:
