From: Russell Nelson <nelson@crynwr.com> To: announcements@opensource.org Subject: Python License now OSI-approved Date: Fri, 30 Nov 2001 00:41:24 -0500 (EST) We approved just one new license in our monthly board meeting. The Python Software Foundation License(a) is now approved by OSI for use with the OSI Certified Open Source Software mark. RMS says that it's GPL-compatible(b) as well. Another four licenses under consideration were not approved. One got a bad reception on our license-discuss(c) mailing list, and we already knew that the submittor was planning on resubmitting. Another violated the GNU GPL's copyright by being a derived work. Another was more of a rant than a license. Too much, in fact. And another was still in draft form when we made up the license, and was only finally submitted several days before we met; too little time for license-discuss to review it.
