From: Andreas Gruenbacher <ag@bestbits.at> To: acl-devel@bestbits.at Subject: [Acl-Devel] EA/ACL patches: Version 0.8 release candidates Date: Fri, 1 Mar 2002 01:59:01 +0100 (CET) Cc: Nathan Scott <nathans@sgi.com>, Timothy Shimmin <tes@sgi.com> Dear all, we are making large step forwards. The next major version is close ahead. I have put release candidates on the web site. Please help testing and shaking out the remaining bugs. The most significant changes, in brief: * New on-disk format (this was the last change planned). * Uses the new reserved system calls. * The acl and extended attribute utilities are now shared between ext2/ext3 and XFS. * All utilities are now available as RPM's. Here is a list of to-do items. I would highly appreciate your help: * Add the remaining architectures. Currently we only have i386. * Help update the installation and migration HTML pages, step-by-step guide, etc. * Grab the FreeBSD manual pages for the ACL library, and rewrite the FreeBSD-isms so we can use them in the ACL package. * Do A LOT of testing. The release candidates are found at the following location. Please see the README file: http://acl.bestbits.at/pre/v0.8/ Cheers, Andreas. PS. I won't be online as much as usually in the next couple of days. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Andreas Gruenbacher, a.gruenbacher@computer.org Contact information: http://www.bestbits.at/~ag/ _______________________________________________ acl-devel mailing list acl-devel@bestbits.at http://acl.bestbits.at/mailman/listinfo/acl-devel
