New KDE Mailing-List For German Speakers. A mailing list for German speaking KDE users has been announced. Users and developers are invited to subscribe.

Events

European Python and Zope Conference. Here's a new announcement for the European Python and Zope Conference 2002, to be held June 26 to 28 in Charleroi, Belgium. There's a few more details about the event, including keynotes to be given by Guido van Rossum, Eric Raymond, Jim Fulton, and Paul Everitt.

New York Linux Scene - a public demonstration. The New York Linux Scene and CUNY Graduate Center are holding a public demonstration of GNU/Linux in the workplace for small to medium sized businesses on Friday, May 24th (10am-5pm).

Boston Perl Classes (use Perl). A set of Perl classes will be held in the Boston area from July 1-3, 2002.

Linux Expo Birmingham cancelled. The Linux Expo Birmingham has been canceled, due to the bankruptcy of Sky Events. This is, it turns out, bad news for some of the event's planned speakers, who have expenses that will not be reimbursed.

"In the spirit of the old MTV show Fanatic, we will be hosting a contest to discover the most dedicated (rabid) Linux devotee (fanatic). If you can prove to us that you are the superlative Linux zealot, you will win complimentary passage on the Linux Lunacy 2002 Caribbean cruise and a chance to meet some of the most renowned people in the Linux and Open Source communities, including Linus Torvalds, Ted Ts'o, Guido van Rossum and our own Phil Hughes. PHP Coding Contest (PHP News). PHP News mentions that Code Walkers is sponsoring a bi-monthly PHP Coding Contest. "Every two weeks, there is a new problem to solve, a new script to write. The winner receive prizes provided by the sponsors, Zend Technologies and Sams Publishing."
