Hello,

The Midnight Commander team has just released version 4.1.35 of the
GNU Midnight Commander. For more information on the Midnight
Commander, please consult http://www.gnome.org/mc

This program is available now in:

     ftp://ftp.nuclecu.unam.mx/linux/local/mc-4.1.35.tar.gz

It should be soon available in the official mirrors:

     * ftp://sunsite.mff.cuni.cz/GNU/mc/mc-4.1.35.tar.gz
     * ftp://ftp.teuto.de/lmb/mc/mc-4.1.35.tar.gz
     * ftp://sunsite.unc.edu/Linux/utils/file/managers/mc/mc-4.1.35.tar.gz
     * ftp://prep.ai.mit.edu/pub/gnu/mc-4.1.35.tar.gz

     md5sum:
     b563fdffb6b25b9f75bb019c2f9f70a2  mc-4.1.35.tar.gz

* New Features since version 4.1:

    Some of the major changes include:

      - Internationalization support! The program has gone
        international as part of the GNOME effort. Some translations
        are more advanced than others: French, Korean, Italian,
        Russian, Spanish translations are available in the package
        now.

      - Editor support syntax highlighting.

      - History on all input lines;

      - A whole lot of VFS improvements: better tar support; better
        ftp support (reget support is here!); more ftp sites are
        recognized.

      - Unified "pc" port for Windows/NT/95 and OS/2, plus QNX port.

      - New GNOME edition. The Midnight Commander is the default file
        manager for the GNOME desktop environment
        (http://www.gnome.org).

      - Gazillions of bug fixes; Better error handling; Small
        improvements; consistency; and stability.

      - Smaller changes: There is so much stuff new, that it is
    difficult for me to do a quick synopsis, but here it goes: colored
    directory listings by file type; Cleaned up the widget usage in
    the code; bzip support; Security fixes (/tmp race conditions);

* Contributors to this release:

The following hackers have contribute to this release of the code:

Alex Tkachenko, Alexander Lukyanov, Alexander Romanyuk, Alexander
Savelyev, Christofer Edvardsen, Erik Troan, Federico Mena, Jaka
Mocnik, Michele Marziani, Miguel de Icaza, Norbert Warmuth, Oleg
Repin, Paul Sheer, Pavel Machek, Pavel Roskin, Peter Daum, Philippe De
Muyter, Stas Maximov, Sung-Hyun Nam, Tamasi Gyorgy, Thomas Dickey,
Timur Bakeyev, Tomasz Koczko, Tom Tromey, Vincent Renardias, Wojtek
Pilorz, Yuri Kuzmenko.

Some smaller contributions probably got lost due to the lack of
ChangeLog entries, and I am approaching the point where I can not keep
track the names of people, I apologize in advance for not listing
everyone involved.

* Reporting bugs:

      The mailing list mc-bugs@nuclecu.unam.mx exists to send bug
      reports about the program. Alternatively you can submit your
      bug report trough the GNOME bug tracking system using the Web:
      http://www.gnome.org/cgi-bin/bugs.

Enjoy,
Miguel.
