From: mdfranz@txdirect.net Subject: WANTED: Linux Laptop Testers/Developers Date: Tue, 01 Sep 1998 06:13:23 GMT As you may or may not be aware, there are several "micro" Linux distributions out there that boot from one or two floppies and run off a Ramdisk. (See http://www.linuxhq.com or http://www.txdirect.net/users/mdfranz/tinux.html for details.) Because of their small or non-existent footprint, micro-Linuxes are especially suited to running on laptops -- particularly if you use a company-provided laptop running Win95. As the maintainer of Trinux (one of these distributions that has a network security emphasis) I've received a large number of requests for Laptop/PCMICIA support. As I don't have the hardware (or the expertise, really) to test all the possible chipsets and NIC configurations I'm looking for any assistance that can be provided by Linux laptop users. While I can't give any compensation (hey, this is Linux!) , I will give you credit for any work on this project. See the http://www.txdirect.net/users/mdfranz/trinux.html for details. Thanks a lot. -mdf ------------------------------------------------- Matthew D.
