Subject: ANNC: Generic #02: Kernel


This Kerenel is intended for general use.  In addition to the features in
the Generic-00 (and thus powerbook) kernel(s), it adds several features
and fixes.  Note that this is by memory, so it's not 100% guranteed to be
exact.  This is a massively reworked replacement for the defective
Generic-01 and Generic-01a,  The IDE bugs in generic-01b (never released)
turned out to be related to the failed changes to mmap.c, and replacing
the original file solved this entirely.

Note: most additional functionality is untested, as I don't have any
affected machines.


1.	Includes ATI 16 bit video support patches
2.	Includes changes for several multi-button mice
3.	Includes Xclaim 3d large resolution support patches
4.	Includes changes to IDE support designed to prevent hang
	when probing an empty bus (PowerBooks)
5.	Includes switchable PB1400 expansion bay support (add -e to
	mach_options)
6.	Includes switchable video caching (add -v to mach_options)

Please test this kernel and the various options and report any problems to
me and/or this list.
