From: sorceror@grayswandir.tir.com (Ray Ingles) Subject: WWW: Linux presentation "slideshow" online Date: Mon, 28 Sep 1998 12:10:43 GMT -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Recently the Metro Detroit Linux User's Group (MDLUG, http://www.mdlug.org/) was invited by the Sterling Heights Computer Club (a DOS/Windows crowd) to give a presentation and demonstration of Linux. I put together a Powerpoint-style slideshow and we used a framegrabber to display it on a large TV screen during the introductory talk. The slideshow is done in standard HTML and is set up to display well in 640x480 (the best the framegrabber could do). Each bullet point on the slides is a link to a page with further information on that topic, many with links to other sites on the web. This way, if the audience is shy or there isn't enough time to fully answer a question, they can view the slides as a website and get more information on their own. The last page is a list of further resources (including the URL for the presentation itself) and is suitable for printing as a handout. It's my hope that this slideshow may be of use to others who want to do a presentation on Linux, if only as a source of ideas. Feel free to use or modify the slides yourself. Of course, corrections and comments are welcome, too. The presentation is at: http://www.tir.com/~sorceror/mdlug/ - -- Sincerely, Ray Ingles (248) 377-7735 sorceror@tir.com "Suffering is good for the soul, but it is usually best to wait until the body has no choice in the matter." - Stephen Donaldson - -- This article has been digitally signed by the moderator, using PGP. http://www.iki.fi/mjr/cola-public-key.asc has PGP key for validating signature.
