tkWorld was born out of frustration by a developer who forgets command
line options to often used shell commands. The process of accessing
the man page, building the command, then piping the output to more or
less is very tedious. Bash and other shells provide workable
interfaces with Emacs and Vi key-bindings, command history, and the
process pipeline.  However, none of these features are integrated with
the mouse, nor do they provide acceptable views of pages of
scroll-able output. Basically, the author just got tired of using the
xterm for daily work, debugging shell scripts, and writing commands.

tkWorld is an acronym for Wes's Own Really Lazy Desktop. It is a
collection of graphical user interfaces to standard Unix
commands. Built on a Linux workstation with Unix users in mind, it
maintains the integrity and features of the Unix operating system, but
does not compromise the Unix philosophy of using small tools together
to solve a large problem. Unlike other desktops and tools, this
package does not force MS-Windows features, which do not fit into
Unix, on you or the operating system.

Using tkWorld is much easier than using the shell.  Instead of typing a
command at the prompt, you build them through a series of non-modal
dialogs that have check buttons for command line options, and entries
for data to be input.  After constructing your command, you run it
in the Command Center which is a script editor.  After executing your
command, your view the output Log Window which is a text editor.
There is also a toolbar which makes using tkWorld easy too.  You can
save your scripts, save your output to a file, and turn balloon help
on and off.

With this release of tkWorld, there are dialogs for the following
widely used Unix commands:

       Find
       Grep
       Make
