Subject: ANNOUNCE: New High Availability software for Linux

[For immediate release:]

RSi Solutions delivers High Availability for Linux servers

 - Free licenses for non-commercial users

 - Full commercial support available for corporate organisations

RSi Solutions Ltd, an independent UK software vendor, is proud to announce
the forthcoming release of its leading edge High Availability product,
RSF-1 for Linux.

Furthermore, RSF-1 for Linux will be

		*** completely FREE to non-commercial users ***

from November 1998.

RSF-1 (Resilient Server Facility) Release 1.3 provides backup and
failover capabilities to pairs of servers, allowing each to take over
and restart its sibling's applications following a failure. Flexible in
implementation yet simple to configure, it lets you utilise redundant
hardware and resilient disk subsystems to deliver 99.99% uptime to your
users. Recovery from unplanned outage can occur within minutes. Even
during planned outage for maintenance, with RSF-1 your applications can
continue to deliver service on the backup server. Administration is
easy with the Java-based graphical console. Already acclaimed by
enterprise users in fields as diverse as banking, local government and
publishing, it is now available on lower cost Unix systems.

RSi Solutions is pleased to be able to offer RSF-1 for Linux, as a
competitive HA product to complement the increased interest in delivering
enterprise solutions on this growing platform. Although Linux itself
provides an extremely stable operating system, the low end hardware on
which it is usually implemented lacks the resilience features of high end
servers. However, with RSF-1 this is no longer an issue; Linux servers
can be paired to provide mutual standby facilities without wasting your
hardware investment. Suitable for internet and intranet applications such
as web servers and firewalls, it also provides essential protection to
critical database servers. It can be used across a wide area network as
part of a disaster recovery plan.

RSF-1 for Linux offers all the same features as the releases for other
platforms. Non-commercial users can license it FREE without support.
Commercial organisations may obtain 30 day evaluation licenses before
purchasing RSF-1 with full support. Various support options are available
to suit the needs of your operation, including 24/7 cover.

Requirements:

Two servers, each with spare network, disk and serial interfaces.
Dual ported, resilient disk subsystem (eg. RAID)
Linux 2.x kernel with glibc (Redhat 5.1 or later recommended)
