From: Chris Halsall <chalsall@burrow.pinc.com> Subject: LUG News... To: lwn@lwn.net Date: Sun, 11 Oct 1998 00:39:53 -0700 (PDT) Hello. First off, I'd like to thank you for producing what I consider to be the best source of Linux news on the Net. It's refreshing reading the LWN each week, with such a solid editorial content! 8-) Second, I'd like to let you know about an important step our LUG has taken. The Victoria Linux Users Group (VLUG), of Victoria, B.C., Canada, has just formally registered as a society, the first LUG in Canada to do so. We feel this is an important step, allowing us to have a board of directors with authority to make things happen, a bank account, the ability to accept membership fees, as well as to sign contracts and other agreements which informal groups simply cannot do. Also, this allows us to limit our legal exposure, something I don't think many LUG organizers think enough about. If you could mention our formal incorporation in the LWN, we would be most appreciate. Our URL is: http://www.vlug.org/ Thanks and regards. -Chris -- Chris Halsall, Software Dev.
