I am pleased to announce the first meeting of the El Segundo/LAX/South
Bay Linux users group. 


We are set for the first meeting on Saturday morning,October 24th 1998 from
10:00AM to 12:00PM in the Matsui Conference Room on the lower floor of
the El Segundo Public Library. (other hours are not out of the question
but this is the only time that I could get for our first meeting in
Oct/Nov). 

The library is located across the street from the local high school, at
the NW corner of the intersection of Main Street and Mariposa in the
City of El Segundo.

There is a park just East of the Library with parking surrounding this
community area. You would enter from the south parking strip. 

Please notify me if you intend to attend so I can arrange for 
a proper room configuration. There will be no fee for this
meeting.(future meetings should remain free except for some minimal AV
charges and a $25 refundable deposit if we choose to use the adjacent
kitchen facilities)

I looked more closely at the facility and noted there is a rest room and
a water fountain adjacent to the room.  The room itself has comfortable
seats with plenty of tables that can be configured as we need.There
is ample lighting. The room will allow seating for up to 111 folks. 

There is a podium with a PA system, a ceiling mounted digital projector
with a recessed drop down screen with remote control. 

I also saw an AV power strip with industrial cord that should reach most
places in the room. I didn't see any phone jacks but I imagine  that
could be setup if we need it. 

There is a  Greek dinner one block south that serves a decent and well
priced breakfast. (I believe it is located at the corner of Pine and
Main).

For those of you who don't know El Segundo is located just south of Los
Angeles International airport and is easily approached from the 105
freeway. 

As for the agenda I would imagine that the first hour would be used for
introductions and setting up the LUG (times, format etc...) with the
second hour perhaps for our first presentation! Are there any takers?

Please let me know what your ideas  are for this first meeting and I can
forward them to the group as you like. I look forward to meeting you all
on Sat the 24th.
