PortsSparcSo...the good news is: Netscape 4.5 is out, and they have release a version for the Sparc. The bad news is: it doesn't work. Evidently Netscape 4.5 requires a bug fix to glibc that is not currently widely available. It also seemingly is dynamicly linked against the Motif libraries, so users will need Motif on their systems. The first problem can be circumvented by applying a patch to glibc, or by using the Raw Hide version of glibc from Red Hat's site. There are mixed reviews as to whether LessTif works or not. Hopefully Netscape will put out an updated version that works for people.SILO 0.8.1 has been released, support for initial ramdisks should work now. See the announcement for more. PowerPCIt was asked: where can one get a Java implementation for the PowerPC?. The answer, of course, is that it's available at the Java for Linux on the PowerPC site. |
