The new OS will feature the GNOME graphical interface, updated C libraries (glibc 2), and dual-boot capability for Power Mac hardware. Release 5 is expected to be released in December 1998. The company is conducting a public test cycle for LinuxPPC 5.0, starting with development version 4.1. Two more test versions will be released, with a 5.0 final candidate available for testing just prior to release. The company is also soliciting user feedback for programs and features that users would like to have in the next version.
