The day that you've been waiting for has arrived- The announcement of
the first ever meeting of TriLUG, The Triangle, NC Area Linux Users Group!

Here are the particulars in brief:

When: First Thursday of November: November 5, 1998, 7:00pm.

Where: Room 304 in Manning Hall, UNC-Chapel Hill Campus (map below)

Who: All Linux fans, users, programmers, interested folks, and friends

How Much: Nothing. Nada. Zip.

What: Erik Troan of Red Hat Software will be giving a presentation on
        how people make money with free software (Free Software Business 
		Models).

There's been a lot of excitement on the TriLUG mailing list and people are
starting to get to know one another and that's wonderful. But the time
has come to meet and greet in earnest and in person!

Since this will be our first meeting we're also having a party! There will
be refreshments courtesy of Etymon Systems and Cool Stuff Giveaways courtesy
of the fine folks at Redhat Software.

Erik Troan of Redhat will be giving us a presentation on Free Software
Husinesses- otherwise known as How To Make Money When You're Giving It Away
(ok, that's what I call it. :) )

Our meetings in TriLUG will be monthly, on the first Thursday of each
month in Manning Hall (which has been generously provided to us by the
SunSITE/METAlab project and the UNC School of Information and Library Science).

At each meeting there we'll be having a presentation, speaker, panel or
workshop on issues relating to Linux applications, development, use, and
logistics. If you want to volunteer for a presentation drop a line to
jem@sunsite.unc.edu.

DIRECTIONS FROM DURHAM/15-501:

- - Take 15-501 South, towards Chapel Hill.
- - Take the Franklin St. exit (to the right).
- - Continue into campus.
- - Once you reach downtown (still on Franklin St.), you will get to Columbia St.
  Take a left on Columbia.  (This is roundabout but easier to see in the dark.)
  Columbia is the vertical street along the left side of the map below.
- - Take a left onto Cameron Ave.
- - There is some parking available in lots along Cameron.
  (In the map below, Cameron runs horizontally along the top of the picture.
  You are coming in from the west.)
- - You might try the parking lots around Bynum Hall (on your right).
  If they are full, go back west on Cameron and look for other parking lots.
  There is a big one opposite Phillips Hall.
- - If you reach the stoplight at Raleigh St. (the vertical street along the 
  right side of the map), you have gone too far!

DIRECTIONS FROM RALEIGH/I-40:

- - Take I-40 West.
- - Take Hwy 54 West (Exit 273B), toward Chapel Hill.
- - When you reach UNC Campus, take a right onto Country Club Rd.
- - Country Club curves left and then becomes Cameron Ave.
- - There is some parking available in lots along Cameron.
  (In the map below, Cameron runs horizontally along the top of the picture.
  You are coming in from the east.)
- - You might try the parking lots around Bynum Hall (on your left).
- - If you go past the Old Well and South Building, you are starting to get
  a bit far away from Manning Hall.  At that stage, I'd suggest taking the next
  right (when Phillips Hall is on the left), which leads into a big parking 
  lot.
- - If you reach Columbia St. (the vertical street along the left side of the 
  map), you are really getting far away.
