Subject: Re: 5.2 HD Install FIX!!

I found a quick work around if you are having the problem
of Redhat saying "error reading directory" while its scanning
the available packages.
Once you reach the "where to get installation from" window,
hit Alt-F2, to bring you to a minimal shell to Linux. Type
"mount" to see what partitions are mounted. For most cases,
then type "mount -t vfat /dev/hda1 /tmp/hdrive" Where hda1 is the
win95 device (hard drive). (If you have dos, the -t is "-t msdos")
Find the directory where you put Redhat (ie: "/tmp/hdrive/redhat/RedHat")
and find the "RPMS" directory. If the directory is NOT all uppercase,
then type "mv rpms rpms1" then "mv rpms1 RPMS". You might run
into problems if the mv command isn't found. For me, I had my old
Redhat 5.1 partition that I mounted and ran "/tmp/oldroot/bin/mv". Every
system could be different on how they mount. Case is VERY important
for Linux, so make sure the directory is also "RedHat".
Once you're done renaming the directories, type "cd /" and
"umount /tmp/hdrive" so that the device won't be busy for the install.
Now, type ALT-F1, to go back to the install window, and retry
your win95 or dos partition with the proper directory.

Hope this helps!! Also, thanks to Misty Linville for the tip off of
renaming the directory!!
