Date: Mon, 16 Nov 1998 10:30:42 -0700 (MST) From: Wayde Allen <wallen@boulder.nist.gov> To: "List: Boulder Linux User's Group" <lug@lug.boulder.co.us> Attendance: 38 Synopsis: This month's presentation on Amateur Packet Radio Networking was given by Ted Cross, President Rocky Mountain Systems Design, and Dave Maciorowski. They gave us a good overview of the underlying communications protocol, the hardware and software requirements, amateur radio licensing, and some general pointers for configuring a Linux box for use in a packet radio network. They also provided several URL's for more information on the topic. The following list is mostly from memory, and a little searching on the web: http://www.arrl.com/ http://www.tapr.org/ http://www.packetradio.com/ http://www.cave.org/aprs/ http://www.thisistrue.com/barc.html http://www.rmsd.com/hamradio/hamradio.html http://www.rmsd.com/hamradio/dwg.html In addition to the URL's, the Mountain Amateur Radio TCP/IP group also maintains a mailing list for discussion of their activities. This can be subscribed by sending the message: subscribe mtntcp to majordomo@rmsd.com. We finished up as usual with general Linux related questions and answers. The December Mini-Expo was discussed briefly, mostly with regards to its location. The current plans are: Linux Mini-Expo December 10th, 1998 7:00 pm Room 1107, NIST, 325 Broadway, Boulder Stay tuned to the LUG list for the most recent updates regarding the Mini-Expo. ----------------------------------------------------- Boulder Linux Users Group: http://lug.boulder.co.us -----------------------------------------------------
