From: Bryan Brunton <bryan@flesherfab.com> To: "'editor@lwn.net'" <editor@lwn.net> Subject: OSS Legal Software Date: Wed, 18 Nov 1998 15:10:09 -0700 Hello, I was hoping you would put this in your letter's to editor section: I would like to announce the beginning of an Open Source Legal Software project. Tentatively entitled VirtuaLaw, this project will be the first Open Source Legal Case Management System. This project will be both open source and free. The Linux client and server will almost certainly be GPLed. The windows client will probably need an alternative license. The main thrust of the project for now will be to port the windows code that I have working now over to Linux. The code that I have now is 90% MS Access and 10% Visual Basic. Hopefully, I can find a reasonably high-level ODBC library. If you would like to participate or use VirtuaLaw please contact me at: virtualaw@flesherfab.com I have some pages up with some screen shots and explanation of the capabilities of this software at: http://dunsinane.net/bryan/index.htm Thanks, Bryan
