Hello,

o Linux-Mandrake/MandrakeSoft at IT COMDEX, Paris - February
   ----------------------------------------------------------

MandrakeSoft S.A. (http://www.mandrakesoft.com), producer of the
Linux-Mandrake distribution (http://www.linux-mandrake.com) will be at
IT COMDEX (http://www.birp.com/lx/index0.html) in Paris. Feb, 9 1999
to Feb, 12 1999 - Parc des Exposisions de Paris - Porte de Versailles

The last version of Linux-Mandrake will be presented. There will be
some installation demos too!

 o Linux-Mandrake in Garden Grove
   ------------------------------

Linux-Mandrake has been choosen in Garden Grove, USA for daily work:

"(...) The install went flawlessly and all eight of my staff wanted
copies to take home and load it on their personal machines. We have
since loaded it on three of our five production servers and on all my
four Systems Analysts machines. We chose Mandrake because of KDE
integration with Red Hat.(...)" Robert Shingledecker - Information
Systems Manager - City of Garden Grove

 o Linux-Mandrake on ZDTV
   ----------------------

Linux-Mandrake has recently been shown on ZDTV (ZDNet channel -
http://www.zdtv.com). We don't know exactly when, but:

"Hi, I was watching zdtv (a cable tv channel here in the states all
about the internet and computers. Anyway this one show has been
talking more and more about linux and mandrake especialy." Thank you
Ken Ross for the information.

In fact, it seems that the discussion focused on our ISO9660 Mandrake
image (for CD burning) (http://www.linux-mandrake.com/en/ftp.html),
which is very very popular!

 o Linux-Mandrake PowerPack
   ------------------------

Many users wrote to us and asked when the PowerPack will be
available. We apologize for the delay, but now the good news: the
production has been started and it will be available very soon. All
details about the Linux-Mandrake PowerPack Edition will be available
next week. Expect some good surprises ;-)

What is Linux-Mandrake exactly?
------------------------------

Linux-Mandrake is an updated Red Hat Linux, with the KDE graphical
desktop fully integrated and preconfigured in it. Those two parts have
been modified and improved to work properly together. Linux-Mandrake
is 100% compatible with RedHat Linux.

Main goals of this new distribution:
-----------------------------------

 - we wish to provide a working and easy-to-install linux-distribution
for people who do not want to spend too much time in installation and
configuration of their Linux system : just install it and USE IT.

 - we wish to provide a very attractive, easy-to-use, Linux System for
newbies coming from the very common OS that you know ;-) For example,
after having your new Linux-Mandrake installed, just type `startx' and
your beautiful KDE graphical environment arrives without crying :-)
Now, just click on the cd-rom icon (on your desktop) to mount and use
your cd-rom (it's the same for floppy disks). This is very easy and
you do not need to be superuser (root) for that!

 - we wish to provide a new distribution in a well-known linux
environment (Red Hat Linux)

Current version:
---------------

- Mandrake 5.2 (Leeloo)
