Subject: ANNOUNCE: kde 1.1 pre2 rpms for RedHat-5.1 and 5.2 available

Dear KDE Enthusiasts,

Thanks to Duncan Haldane there a now KDE-1.1pre2 rpms available for
RedHat-5.1 and 5.2.

These will appear firstly on

ftp://ftp.de.kde.org/pub/kde/stable/1.1pre2/distribution/rpm/RedHat-5.1/i386
ftp://ftp.de.kde.org/pub/kde/stable/1.1pre2/distribution/rpm/RedHat-5.2/i386
and shortly delayed on

ftp://ftp.kde.org/pub/kde/stable/1.1pre2/distribution/rpm/RedHat-5.1/i386
ftp://ftp.kde.org/pub/kde/stable/1.1pre2/distribution/rpm/RedHat-5.2/i386

Unlike the earlier RPM packages, these are fully relocatable
using "rpm ....  --prefix=<your desired location>"
and all associated configuration scripts should reflect
your chosen location ($KDEDIR)

Extremely simple post-installation scripts "usekde <user>"
and "kdm_on"/"kdm_off" are described in the accompanying
"readme-redhat-rpms" document.

qt-1.42-3rh5x.i386.rpm, which now includes the qimageio
extension library requested by many users, is supplied
with the KDE RPMS.

Send comments about problems with the RPM packages
to <redhat-rpms@kde.org>

(RPM packages for RedHat 4.2 and 5.0 will appear soon)
Volunteers to rebuild the RPMS on other architectures
are requested to contact redhat-rpms@kde.org.

Yours,

Anybody who's comfortable using KDE should use it. Anyone who wants to
tell other people what they should be using can go to work for Microsoft.
