=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====

Announcing the linux-aviation mailing list! The business and sport
of aviation is about as mission critical as any human endeavor gets.
Certificated aircraft are designed and built to engineering and quality
standards that far exceed those of any other consumer product. This
list is intended to foster communication between pilots and aviation
enthusiasts who believe that any computing environment used for aviation
related applications should meet similar high standards, and that the
open software development model and the Linux operating system is the
computing environment with the greatest potential to meet such high
standards.

Postings related to the use of the Linux operating system to assist in
the design, construction or operation of all categories of certificated
aircraft; airplane, rotorcraft, glider, and lighter than air are all
considered appropriate. Some example topics for postings might include,
but are not limited to:

  o Digital Charts and Cartography
  o Weight and Balance Calculators
  o Density Altitude, True Airspeed and other E6B "like" Calculators
  o Flight Planning for Powered Flights (VFR and IFR)
  o Flight Planning for Soaring Flights
  o Speed to Fly Calculators
  o GPS Interface Software

  o Electronic Flight Instrument Systems (EFIS)
  o Flight Control Systems
  o Flight Simulators

Everyone with an interest is encouraged to participate, those interested
in participating in software development efforts as well as end users. To
subscribe to the list, send the command "subscribe linux-aviation" in the
body of a mail message to

                        <Majordomo@mail.nl.linux.org>

I would like to extend my thanks to the sponsors of the nl.linux.org
server for making resources available for the linux-aviation mailing list.
They are Rik van Riel <riel@nl.linux.org> and Utrecht University located
in the city of Utrecht, The Netherlands.
