Date: Wed, 17 Mar 1999 03:00:27 -0700 (MST) From: Marc Christensen <Marc.Christensen@m.cc.utah.edu> To: Caldera Users <caldera-users@rim.caldera.com> Subject: ANNOUCNE: Unofficial COL 1.3 RPMs for testing Spring break affords me some spare cycles.... http://www.mecworks.com/software I have built some RPMs for COL 1.3 systems for three packages: glib-1.2.0 Used by GTK+ (note that this is NOT glibc! This is a set of optimized data handling routines used by GTK+). Needed to compile many GTK+ applications currently being developed, including GNOME. gtk+-1.2.0 Gimp GUI tool kit. Needed to compile many gtk+ applications currently being developed, including GNOME. apache-1.3.4 A modularized version of the Apache web server. A lot of changes have gone into this package compared to the original chipped with 1.3 so I's like some feedback on how it works or doesn't. I also added a devel package that allows for developing and compiling 3rd party modules. This was unavailable in the Apache RPM shipped with COL 1.3. NOTE: If you install the glib and gtk+ RPMS, you might uninstall the glib/gtk+ currently installed which will cause gimp 1.0.2 to stop working. All you have to uninstall is the development packages. You can have the old run-time libraries still installed concurrently with the new versions. This will allow running of gimp-1.0.2 while you can develop for newer applications which require newer the new version of glib and gtk+. Questions? ask 'em. Suggestions? send 'em. Once the quirks are worked out of the packages, they will be placed in Caldera's incoming directory and will eventually make it to the contrib directory on Caldera's FTP site.
