Hello; this is a note to editors and journalists who track e-mail,
messaging, collaboration, e-services/e-business, groupware, etc. (Abject
apologies if I've sent this to an inappropriate mailbox -- perhaps
you'd be kind enough to let me know who would be a more appropriate
person to receive this?)

At the EMA'99 conference in Dallas next week, HP will be making two
interesting announcements around our OpenMail(R) Business Messaging and
E-Services solution: a new and vastly-improved product lineup and a new
ultra-secure remote messaging offering. We'll also have plenty of other
background information to share with you. There's a session in the
program for OpenMail at 2:30pm on Tuesday, March 30th, in City View III,
which you are welcome to attend.

Recent months have seen a big resurgence in the perception of OpenMail
in the minds of our customers and prospects. Witness our recent
outstanding customer survey results, our recent sales gains, our plans
to add Linux into our product line, and our continuing successful
delivery of OpenMail's unique Microsoft Outlook functionality. We're
finding the market trend is to look beyond the 3 or 4 more-visible
choices when looking for large-scale business messaging and
collaboration. (In addition, we haven't exactly been hurt by the
continued unfortunate delivery hiccoughs experienced by other vendors
who would seek to claim OpenMail's large-scale business messaging
position.)

OpenMail is successfully (if quietly) selling and implementing large
quantities of mailbox licenses into our traditional large-scale business
messaging market, and also into service providers (either for high
functionality outsourced messaging or added-value ISPs). We recently
announced that we currently have 10,000,000 seats implemented (after
accounting for a few retirements, mostly due to mergers/acquisitions).

OpenMail is moving ahead, spurred on by the renewed vigor of HP's new
organization and its commitment to the product. I'd love to have the
opportunity of talking to you about this, our new product line and our
plans for the future. If you'd like to set up some time, either in
Dallas, or at another time, please don't hesitate to reply to this
message or pick up the telephone.

Hope to see you at EMA; regards,

richi.
