From: Troy Will <twill@lakes.com> To: caldera-users@rim.caldera.com Subject: ANNOUNCE: OpenLinux Useability Project Date: Sun, 28 Mar 1999 18:36:55 -0600 Hello, I am starting a project with the simple goal improving the usability of OpenLinux. Anyone interested in helping out can get in touch with me at twill@lakes.com. All products of this effort will be free. The end result of this project will be: 1. Some simple how-to documentation on sound, printing and XF86Config. 2. Some simple Perl programs to do system administration and improve the usability of OpenLinux. I will be buying an address for the project ( tentatively useopenlinux.com ), and if the results are successful I will expand the project beyond the simple ideas above. How to decide if this project is for you? If you are in agreement with most of the following statements you are in: 1. You generally like OpenLinux but Caldera seems to be a day late and dollar short in much of their efforts, e.g. old versions of Star Office. 2. You generally like OpenLinux but some features bug the hell out of you, e.g., busted links on the default home page. 3. You think KDE is the right way to go. 4. You think Perl is great. 5. You think OpenLinux has the potential to kick Microsoft's ass, not merely "stub its toe." 6. You want your mother to be able to use Linux. 7. You think Linus Torvalds is terrific. 8. You admire and respect Richard Stallman, but realize he wouldn't know what a decent user inferface was if it came up and punched him in the nose. 9. You think the manual that came with OpenLinux 1.3 is insufficient. 10. You think Caldera's Web site can be improved. --Troy
