Greetings!

Here is the 2nd issue of Midgard Weekly Summary, created
for helping people interested in The Midgard Project to
keep up with latest developments.

-Development version in CVS
Jukka has checked in all his latest improvements in the
Midgard code to CVS. It should be noted that much of
this is still work in progress and will not necessarily
work. It will also need many changes to the Midgard
database so trying it out on production-level servers
 is strongly discouraged.
It contains many new features that will be on future
 releases of Midgard, including:
  -Handling of file attachments
-Linking persons and groups to Topics
-performance improvements on large topic retrievals
As a sidenote I would like to add that I've seen these
features already at work in one big Intranet site, and
 they really improve Midgard's usability.

-Development Roadmap
Jukka has posted his version of Midgard's development
roadmap and it can be found at The Midgard Project's
web site. Long-term plans include adding WAP/mobile
 computing functionality and CORBA support.

-Plans for Midgard's new site
The Midgard Project has started planning on
improving its web site to work as a better tool
for Midgard users and developers. Henri Bergius
has written a note about possible new structure
 of the site:

The Midgard Project's graphic designer Janne Puonti
has sent us his examples for area logos of the
 new site:

-Connectivity with other Web Creation tools
Patrick Hayes has sent a short note to Midgard's
mailing list about the possibility of initiating
a project for writing tools for allowing Midgard
and other web creation tools to interoperate.
People interested in working on this project should
 contact the Midgard mailing list
 (midgard@greywolves.org).
