Support Pact with Data General; On-Site Support Program Now Available
for Industry-Leading IntraPort VPN Line

     Business Editors/High-Tech Writers

     BOULDER, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 12, 1999--Compatible
Systems Corporation today announced that it has signed an agreement
with Data General Corporation (NYSE:DGN) of Westboro, Mass. under
which Data General will perform on-site installation and maintenance
of Compatible Systems' award-winning IntraPort family of VPN Access
Servers.
The On-Site Support Program (OSSP) is an option available to
customers of the Compatible Systems Total Care Support Program (TCSP),
the company's premium support offering.
"We are the industry leader in hardware-based VPNs," said Matt
McConnell, president and CEO of Compatible Systems Corporation. "Our
IntraPort products are getting a great reception at Fortune 2500
enterprise accounts and Network Service Providers (NSPs). These
customers have consistently asked for an on-site installation and
maintenance program. Now we're partnering with Data General, one of
the most respected names in IT support services, to provide that
capability."
The Total Care Support Program provides round-the-clock access to
Compatible Systems' support staff. When a TCSP customer with the OSSP
option requires on-site installation or maintenance, Compatible
Systems will notify Data General to dispatch a trained Data General
technician to the customer site from one of more than 270 Data General
support centers located throughout the world.
"No matter what the reach of the enterprise or service provider
network, Data General has the means to provide quality on-site
maintenance," says Mike Mancuso, vice president, US sales and support,
at Data General. "Virtual Private Networks deliver great power and
flexibility. We can help companies get the VPN running quickly and
smoothly, just about anywhere that Compatible Systems products are
sold."
While Compatible Systems will continue to include its no-cost
telephone and web-based Integrated Support Package with every product,
the Total Care Support Program with the On-Site Support Program option
provides additional fee-based services for customers who require
on-site installation and maintenance support. Under the program, a
qualified service technician can be on the customer's site within just
a few hours in the U.S., Canada, much of Western Europe and elsewhere.
"Our customers are making significant investments in virtual
private networking," McConnell adds. "The On-Site Service Program is
just another way for us to help ensure that these customers get the
maximum return on their investments."
