Subject: esc to begin - open source media art

This document servers as an introduction of the esc to begin website=20
and a call for participation to join our project.

Located at the ZKM Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe,

esc to begin is an experimental research group developing=20
applications and hardware for interactive media art. We decided to=20
open source all our developed software under the Gnu Public Licence=20
and set up a website to gauge the interest of the open source and=20
media art community.

esc to begin will present its project status during the net_condition=20
exibition and the second Wizard of OS conference at the ZKM in=20
September 1999.

Currently, there are 10 people in our group, working on 14 projects=20
developed using Java, REALbasic, C, perl and Lingo on Linux, Apple=20
and Windows. Included are a live video to ascii converter, two=20
tracking systems, and the first betas of our ongoing game development=20
